Design Managers

The Manchester office is currently looking for design managers specifically with P21/healthcare experience due to a large proportion of their work in the North West being large new build hospitals. You will be involved in both pre construction design through to design management on site for a specific project or contract. Our client, one of the UK’s top 10 main contractors has a new and exciting opportunity for a Design co-ordinator to be project based on a large educational (BSF) project on Merseyside.  You will be responsible for evaluating the project, reviewing all documentation, understanding project brief and identifing deliverables/success factors, assisting in the briefing of the design team, establishing and maintaining effective communication channels between the design team and the company. The successful candidate will come from a main contracting Design & Build background and be keen to work for a forward thinking contractor. Experience of multi discipline projects would be an advantage, specifically Education projects and Industrial units. Candidates should be from a solid main contracting Design and Build background and preferably educated to HND/Degree level. Due to continued growth our client, a leading full-service construction business, employees in the UK are looking for a Design Manager to be based in Warrington. This is an exciting time to join as you will be working on varied projects ranging from £80m - £300m. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

Pre Tender:
You will be responsible for the technical submission in the tender package, making sure that the tender bid is complaint with the tender documents and that the technical submission is of the highest quality ensuring that it achieves the highest standard in the marking process.
Aiding with the tender process is achieving a cost-effective solution to the design by co-ordinating design team, including chairing tender design meetings.

Post Tender:
Reporting to the Technical Director, ensuring that all designers are working together and are issuing information correctly, on time and to the specification. Running design team meetings on a regular basis and making sure that all aspects of the design are value engineered and understood by all parties.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record with a similar main contractor and experience of similar size projects, excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Due to constant expansion, our client, one of the UK’s largest and most profitable construction organisations have several exciting opportunities for project based Design Managers. The successful candidates will be responsible for developing design proposals for bids, managing the design team and liaising with all interested parties and ensuring the development of the design deliverables programme. To be based on projects up to the value of £100m. A degree or equivalent in a construction related subject also experience of site based and tender design work is essential.

This regional design coordinator role will be providing a close liaison between pre-tender and contract activities and to co-ordinate design between the members of the project team. As an experienced design coordinator you will be expected to provide advice, guidance and example to other coordinators in the execution of their duties and to manage the design co-ordination of allocated assignments utilising allocated staff where appropriate.   You will be involved in a mixture of commercial, leisure and health work throughout the North West.

 An experienced Design Manager is required for one of the leading construction companies in the UK. The role will be based out of their North West office in Lancashire although you will be also visiting sites which are currently mainly located in central/south Manchester.The role will involve the following; 

• Bid Design Management:
• Preparing proposed design management strategy
• Reviewing design documents
• Monitoring design costs and recording design changes
• Preparing contractor's proposal
• Project Design Management:
• Reviewing contract design documents
• Finalising schedules for design appointments
• Monitoring and obtaining consents and statutory approvals
• Monitor and manage design elements of Project Risk Register

 You will be involved in a mixture of work including commercial, residential, education and hotels with project values of up to £50 million.

The successful candidate will preferably be from a structural engineering background as this project has a complex sub/super structure.
