Our client is a top ten contractor with a turnover of around £150
million in the North West area. They undertake projects up to
£100 million and cover commercial, residential, leisure, healthcare and
educational sectors. They are currently looking for a regional
M+E Manager to cover the North West area including both Manchester and
Liverpool projects. Ideally you will be currently undertaking
this role for a similar main contractor in the area or be a senior
building services coordinator looking for the next step up. This
is a rare and excellent opportunity to be managing an excellent M+E
team working on some of the largest and high profile schemes in the
area.

Job description: 

Due to the success of winning large projects for 2008, our client, one of the UK’s largest contractor have an exciting opportunity for a Building Services Manager.Ideally the successful candidate will have previous experience with a similar main contractor working on large projects with a value of circa £80m. Responsibilities include: 

  • Advising clients and architects on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites.
  • Managing and forecasting spend, using whole life cycle costing techniques, ensuring that work is kept to budget.
  • Developing and negotiating project contracts and agreeing these with clients.
  • Liaising closely with structural engineers, builders, architects and surveyors, and in-house project teams.
  • Chairing a range of project groups and technical meetings.
  • Working with detailed diagrams, plans and drawings.
  • Using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) software and other resources to design all the systems required for the project.
  • Overseeing and supervising the installation of building systems and specifying maintenance and operating procedures.
  • Monitoring building systems and processes.
  • Facilities management.
  • Ensuring that the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements.

 You must possess excellent communication and negotiation skills. A Heath and Safety qualification would be a distinct advantage.

A good understanding of the construction industry is essential and PFI experience would be advantageous.
